Wanting to leave a lasting memory of the first afternoon with the new Sidi XTreme off-road boot, Sidi had the media show up to a small airport, buckle up a set of the new $375 boots and then climb onto a small plane. Once at 13,000 feet and strapped to a trained skydiver, the off-road media moguls of the world dropped to earth, Sidi XTreme boots first.

Before sending the media into the sky, Bill Berroth, owner and creator of Motonation (North America’s exclusive importer of Sidi) spoke on why Sidi is making the XTreme off-road boot.

“Motonation has been bugging Sidi for a few years that we need a quality boot at this [$375] price level. If you look at the Sidi line for boots or bicycle product it is full of upper-end products with only a couple of mid-range items. Sidi hasn’t made a price point boot at this level ever. Sidi doesn’t have one high-end boot now, we have two, the Crossfire 2 and now the XTreme. A cool thing about Sidi is that everything on every single Sidi boot is designed by Sidi. There is nothing on any Sidi boot that a boot company could go to a boot supplier and purchase off the shelf. A lot of other boot manufactures can go to a vendor and order 10,000 of a certain sole, specific straps, buckles, and take those materials, cut fabric and start to assemble a boot. The main point is that every Sidi boot 100% Sidi designed and Sidi is excited to offer a boot at this price, and very pleased that it has many of the quality features of the Crossfire 2.”
