The first step to qualify for the 35th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by AMSOIL, begins this weekend in two regions across the United States.

MMX Racing in Marysville, California will play host to the first two Area Qualifiers for both the Northwest and Midwest Regions this weekend, February 13 and 14.

“It is hard to believe that it’s that time again, now is the time for our Area Qualifier organizers to host the first step in the road to Loretta Lynn’s,” said MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. “The Area Qualifiers begin the season for our athletes, and provide an opportunity for the best facilities and organizers in America to showcase their race tracks to the top motocross athletes in America.”
The Area Qualifiers serve as the first step in qualifying for the world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross championship. The Regional Championships then serve as the next step to seed riders into the National Championship. Only riders who finish in a qualifying position at a Regional Championship are eligible to race the National the week of August 1 – 6, 2016.

The AMA Amateur National Championship is the world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross race where riders from all over the country compete in the National class structure that includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes.

“This weekend marks the start of many of America’s top amateur motocross racers’ journeys to qualify to compete at the prestigious Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship,” said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow. “We’ve worked diligently alongside our promoting partner, MX Sports, to compile a schedule that includes some of the greatest tracks in the country. The AMA Area Qualifiers, which kick off this weekend, showcase the top racers at the local level who hope to advance to an AMA Regional Motocross Championship, and ultimately hope to be crowned an AMA National Motocross Champion. The competition will be intense, and we wish the competitors a safe and successful path to the championship.”

All Area Qualifier participants will be included in the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Race Gas Program, where each racer will receive one $10 Race Gas gift card redeemable on all products carried by Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. Racers who qualify for the Regional Championships will receive a gift card valued at $20 as well as the AMA Amateur National.
