Casey Stoner at Round 2 of the 2010 MotoGP series at Jerez

Jorge Lorenzo had the second fastest time at Jerez, coming in just a tenth of a second after Stoner.

Stoner's teammate Nicky Hayden had a successful practice at Jerez where he ran third just behind Jorge Lorenzo.

Valentino Rossi ran fifth during the practice at Jerez. He was just 0.628 seconds off the pace set by Stoner.

Andrea Dovizioso from Repsol Honda had a best time of 1'41.277 during the practice session at Round 2 of the 2010 MotoGP series.

Dani Pedrosa had a best lap time of 1'40.200. His time was just half a second off Stoner's at Round 2 of the 2010 MotoGP series.

Dani Pedrosa: “Well, this result at Jerez is a little bit surprising for me and, even though I came so close to winning, I’m pleased to be on the podium and so close to the top step."

Marco Melandri: "I’m not very happy with the first part of the race here at Jerez. It was hard to ride. I made a good start but I didn’t feel comfortable riding, when I hit the brakes the bike was very unstable. It got better as the race went on, but my engine mapping lost me some power."

Marco Simoncelli: "[Jerez] was a good race and I was still very fast at the end; I even felt that at seven laps from the flag I was a bit stronger than the rest of the group. But when my bike started to slide the other riders upped their pace. It’s another eleventh place, but a more positive one.”

Randy de Puniet: "We are a bit disappointed because we aimed to get a different result at Jerez. After a very positive qualification I got a bad start from the second row and ended the first lap in 12th position. From there it was a very hard race for me!"

Shoya Tomizawa: "I gave it full gas. I tried but Toni is so fast. We had a good three days here at Jerez – good Friday, good Saturday, good Sunday – so now we hope we can find a good solution when we get to Le Mans."

Alvaro Bautista: "I am happy to finish in the top 10 at Jerez, this is a good result, but I think if the bike was like practice I could have done better."

Loris Capirossi marking his 301st Grand Prix weekend - Jerez

Loris Capirossi: "I started the Jerez race quite aggressive and I overtook a few guys – which was good – and the bike was working well, but I crashed on the third lap. I tried to pick up the bike to finish the race, but the engine was off so that was the end for me."

Colin Edwards: "I think I've had one good race at Jerez in my entire career and today wasn't it. This weekend has been a struggle and I've never been comfortable on the bike to show the pace I know I am capable of."

Casey Stoner: "I’m disappointed with today’s performance at Jerez. We started the weekend strongly but only got worse compared to our rivals as the sessions went by and we were never able to improve on the base set-up that we started out with."

Jorge Lorenzo: "It has always been one of my dreams to win a MotoGP race in Spain and this was like a movie, everything that could possibly happen did!"

Valentino Rossi: "I made no mistakes and I'm happy about my race in the circumstances, these 16 points are very important. At the end I had a front-row seat to the Spanish party and I admit I was sorry not to be involved."

Ben Spies: "I got a really good start and was right behind Casey but pretty much from the first lap I knew I had a problem. I tried to ride around the problem but at the end of the day I wasn't going to be scoring any points at Jerez and I'd have risked crashing if I'd continued."

Nicky Hayden: "Fourth place is no disaster but I was hoping to stay closer to the top three at Jerez and put up a bit of a fight. I’m not happy to be nine seconds adrift but we’re trying to build something here and we’ve had another solid weekend."

Spain’s Toni Elias (center) won his home Moto2 race at Jerez.

Lorenzo went around Rossi on lap 21 of 27 then began chasing Pedrosa.

Ben Spies: “I'm super happy with today. It's 11th and I'm over a second off the pace but after only one hour at this track I'm really happy and I don't think it could have gone too much better than it did."

Jorge Lorenzo was able to steal the win from Dani Pedrosa after Pedrosa went into a corner too fast.

After winning at Jerez Jorge Lorenzo kept things light hearted by planting his signature Por Fuera Flag into the gravel.

Nicky Hayden finsihed just off the podium in fourth at Jerez during Round 2 of the 2010 MotoGP series.

Pedrosa and Lorenzo had a tense battle before Pedrosa fumbled and gave the win to Lorenzo.

After winning the Jerez race, Jorge Lorenzo promptly hopped off his bike and sprinted toward the track pond, jumping in with all his gear!

Pedrosa and Rossi came in second and third respectively at the Jerez round behind Lorenzo.

Valentino Rossi: “This just wasn’t our race today. We struggled a lot with the shoulder during the weekend but especially with the setting, and we weren’t able to fix the problem and have good rear grip.”

Despite the team's issues, the Rossi Fan Section was in full force at Jerez.
