MX Broadcasts Continue to Grow for ‘12
Monday, November 14, 2011
Over the last few years motocross
has been steadily gaining a larger audience. In 2011 alone the sport witnessed a 36% growth in domestic television viewership, and a 50% increase in overall website traffic. As demand for motocross has increased, MX Sports Pro Racing and Alli Sports have changed the way fans can get access to live coverage, with live webcasts helping quadruple the size of audiences in just the past three years. In 2012 MX coverage will undergo another change as NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network become the new home of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross
Championship. The two partners will feature more than 11 hours of live race coverage next year and a total of 21 hours of race programming.
Most importantly, AMA Motocross’ move to NBC Sports Group is expected to bring better opportunities for sponsors and generate more revenue for the sport in the long run. Who knows where motocross will be in five years, but here’s hoping it’ll be on a television in your living room!
