2012 Budds Creek Motocross Highlight Video
Wednesday, June 20, 2012
The women didn’t race at Budds Creek which left the 250 and 450 riders to do battle in Round 5 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. The Red Bull Budds Creek
event was bright and sunny and the racing shaped up pretty well for the weekend.
Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen held the lead for most of the opening 250 moto before Geico Honda’s Justin Barcia put down the hardest no-contact pass I’ve ever seen. He scrubbed in Roczen’s face so hard it whipped the piss and vinegar right out of the German. The Honda rider walked away after that while Blake Baggett squeaked into second and Roczen collected himself in the final minutes. Moto 2 was redemption time with Kenny out front again, but Baggett put on his late charge and hosed the KTM rider once again with some help from pesky lapped riders. The former World GP champion is going to win one of these things eventually, but now he has two weeks to fume over the double spanking he got in Maryland. Baggett scored the overall with his 2-1 scores.
The 450 class wasn’t nearly as exciting. Ryan Dungey pretty much has a grip on things with his Red Bull KTM. At this point with all the injured big-name riders, going 1-1-1 is standard operating procedure for the 2010 champ, and it doesn’t look like there’s going to be anyone to challenge him anytime soon. The battle for position behind him is pretty good, though. Broc Tickle finally lived up to his potential and nailed down 2-2-2 on his Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
