KTM’s
Behind the Machine webseries returns with “Episode 5: Dungey vs. Stewart” and highlights some notable performances during the 2012 Supercross season as well as the opening round of the 2012 outdoor Nationals. Following on the heels of
Mike Alessi and
Andrew Short and their failed attempt to bring a title to Team Orange in 2011,
Ryan Dungey was heavily criticized for moving to the unproven KTM squad, even with Roger de Coster at the helm. RD was able to silence some of the detractors with a
second-round win in Supercross, but later in the season suffered a broken collarbone that took him out of contention for a number of rounds. Heading into the Motocross season, Dungey was physically fit and focused but had
James Stewart to deal with in the opening round. Stewart hadn’t contested the outdoor nationals in a number of years, but had proven his capability by notching a perfect season in 2008. “Episode 5” ends with a recap of the first round of 2012 at
Hangtown, where Stewart came out swinging and Dungey struggled to keep pace with the Yoshimura Suzuki rider. Check out
