"Behind the Machine" Episode 6
Thursday, November 15, 2012

Got it. Ryan Dungey secures a 1-1 finish at Thunder Valley, giving KTM its first American Motocross round victory.
KTM’s Behind The Machine series continues with “Episode 6: A Turning Point.” Remember the opening rounds of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship? When
James Stewart came out blazing on his new Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 at
Hangtown, took a second win in Moto 2 and then grabbed two more in the following battle at
Freestone? KTM’s
Ryan Dungey was right there too as one of the only riders in the field to keep pace with JS7, giving a blood-pressure bump to Team Orange fans around the world eager to see the Austrian marque score its first Amercan Motocross round win.
Whether Dungey would have continued playing second-fiddle to Stewart will never be known, since Bubba crashed hard in the third round at
Thunder Valley, suffering a wrist injury that would plague him throughout the rest of the season. With the lane clear to the front, Dungey proceeded to build huge gaps on the field in both motos, earning KTM its first American Motocross round victory.
Check out the amazing footage from those first three, crucial rounds of AMA Pro Motocross action in 2012 which helped to reshape the destiny of KTM within the ranks of American off-road racing. Behind the Machine “Episode 6: A Turning Point” is provided courtesy of KTM, via YouTube, below.
