Troy Bayliss confirmed once again that there would be no racing comeback. The Ducati man announced on Saturday that he had changed his mind about making a comeback and, although he is clearly still at the top of his game, confirmed that he will be sticking to his decision to retire.

On his second qualifier Noriyuki Haga suffered a fast crash at the second right at the end of the back straight, but emerged unscathed and content with the set-up of his Xerox Ducati.

Michel Fabrizio was able to put down the second-fastest time during testing at Misano and says he is satisfied and confident heading into Round 8 of the Championship series.

Noriyuki Haga lapped consistently in the mid 1.36s and dipped to a 1.36.6 on the first of his qualifying tires during testing at Misano.

Michel Fabrizio was testing in the low 1.36’s, which is well inside last year’s fastest lap of 1.37.1 set by Jonathan Rea when he won Race 2.

Yamaha Sterilgarda rider Cal Crutchlow took first in the qualifying session on Friday with a laptime that was slightly better than BMW Motorrad Motorsport's Troy Corser.

After making changes to his bike Troy Corser had the unofficial fastest time during Friday's morning practice.

Max Biaggi: "It was a rather intense Friday. We are trying different solutions on both bikes. We are doing this because we think that there is room for improvement. Unfortunately, because of the dirty track today, we found conditions which were quite different than those we had in our tests last week. Grip was often a problem and only in the end, after our tests and the tests of other categories, were we able to get close to test times."

Leon Camier: "This morning the track conditions weren't perfect and we lost a bit of time testing some modifications to the setup which turned out to be counterproductive. In the afternoon we wisely backtracked, following the indications from the tests we did here last week and things got significantly better. The track, looking at the results from last year, isn't exactly ideal for our bike, but the work we are doing makes me optimistic for tomorrow and Sunday."
