I've been a rider for 12 years. I've had a 250, zx6r, YZF600 and a R6. When I was purchasing this bike I was ready to leave behind speed and go for comfort and control. This bike is an amazing performer. It's nimble through the low end, handles tough corners like a champ, and screams take the corner faster!
My only knocks on the bike are in regards to components. Kawasaki seemed to go cheap here... Which at the price point for what you are getting isn't a horrible deal, but the newer 650r's seem better designed. The suspension can be a bit rigid at times, but again, shines when handling through twisties. The engine only disappoints on long commutes on the interstate. The rpm's scream in 6th gear by the time you hit 80 (7,000rpm). Otherwise, the low end will get you out from a red light in no time, and keep you going from 0-80 with seldom a loss in power to the back wheel. The transmission seems a bit clunky, however downshifting is much better on this bike than my previous Kawasaki's.
For those looking to get a seriously fun bike that provides everything you need away from a track setting, this bike is for you.
Lastly - for rides over an hour - the seat sucks. Not going to sugar coat this - the seat is a bit hard after more than a hour on the road.
Happy riding.
