My 07 Dakar is great for off road and great for travel at highway speeds with minor sproket adjustments. Although not exceptional in either places, but almost impossible with an adventure bike to be excellent in both. But I'm critical, I owned a crf450r and a cbr1000rr so my comparison has expierience on two of the better on both applications, even with that being said I still think it's fine and up to the task, what ever that may be. It is a tractor and with basic maintenence should be able to get an easy 150000kms with the rotax. I have ridden other adventure bikes and most seem to bulky to fling around, two hard on gas, un-reliable, top heavy or just not fun to use confidently on and off road. I love it and with gradual up-grades it will be straight 5's all across the ratings. Buy one if you have a chance but make sure it has the silver rotax because it was built in Austria not Japan like the black cased rotax, not that there is anything wrong with that it's just I know the silver Rotax gets insane life span.
