CEO Lorenzo, Janitor Dovi in Yamaha GP Vid

Friday, July 27, 2012
The team over at Yamaha has done it again. Every year around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca time, Yamaha gathers up its MotoGP riders, brings ‘em to their SoCal HQ, and shoots a campy outtake using the riders in roles other than their chosen profession. This year features Cal Crutchlow as a security guy with a Queen’s Guard hat on bearing the Monster logo, Ben Spies as a broken glasses-wearing tech nerd, Andrea Dovizioso as a jovial janitor and Jorge Lorenzo is the CEO. MotoGP announcers Gavin Emmett and Nick Harris make a cameo appearance for jolly old fun’s sake.

Cheesy, corny, call it what you want, but for a day the riders get to break away from the seriousness of racing a MotoGP bike and get a chance to let their guard down for a few hours. Found the part where they denied Spies the receptionist position because of his bad attitude ironic, especially seeing as how he had just publicly announced he was leaving the Yamaha MotoGP team that morning. Coincidence? Maybe. Entertaining nonetheless.
