Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R Homologated for AMA

Tuesday, February 5, 2013
This past weekend I got to chat with AMA Pro Racing’s Technical Director Al Ludington and he revealed that Kawasaki’s new 636cc-powered Ninja ZX-6R (find out more in the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R First Ride) is on the fast track to being homologated for both the Daytona SportBike and Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport road racing classes for the '13 season. Considering its higher engine torque output and beefier mid-range performance the new ZX-6R could be the most cost-effective formula for a privateer racing looking for a edge on track. Only time will tell if we’ll see any green bikes on the grid for the races at the season opener at Daytona next month...

This is no big deal compared to the time Eslick won DSB on the Buel 1125. Its only 36cc not 150cc in the case of the GXR750 or 525cc in for the Buel.

Daytona sport bike 4cyl 600cc minimum weight is 365lbs and 3cyl 675cc is 375lbs, so the 636 may fall between those two specs to level the power to weight ratios, or it will classed like the 675cc category.

Cheating is cheating.....
4 cylinder = 600cc
3 cylinder = 675cc
2 cylinder = 750cc

636cc is cheating....... Lets get GSXR 750 on the show...........
