Suchanek Sets Ice Wheelie World Record
Monday, February 10, 2014
Ryan Suchanek is a stunt rider who faced a major set-back in 2007. While riding his bike home from work Suchanek was hit by a car; when he woke six weeks later he found his left leg had been amputated from the knee down. Six months after that he was back on a bike doing demos in China. On February 1, 2014 Suchanek set out to push the boundaries further by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest wheelie on ice on his 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R
. After some early technical issues at Lake Koshkonong in Wisconsin (studs flying out of his front tire on set downs and punching holes in the radiator, iced-over air filters) Suchanek finally reached his goal, rocketing down the ice at 109.5 mph on one wheel. Check out the video below to see Suchanek in action.
