Most comfortable bike I have ever owned. Rides is Smoother than the Goldwing. Lackin in Power and is extremely hot at stop lights. Added "Saddle shields", but still has a tendency to heat my right inner thigh. Replaced rear tire after only 7K. Front one is needed now at 14K. Road trips are what this is about, not a "Speed Burner" just a
SMOOTH ride. Two up and still cruises 85-90 all day long.
This is my third New bike. Purchased for my retirement.
Last bike was a 2006 Vulcan 2000. This bike has much better Quality to it than that on.

I replaced my aging 1983 Jap touring bike with a new leftover 2008 FLHTC last month. I test-drove the Harley before buying and I'm pleased with the purchase. Compared with my old bike, the FLHTC is more comfortable and handles better. It's a beautiful piece of art and is a joy to ride. It lacks much of the technology that I had in my old bike however and has no power. Of course, I knew this when I bought it. The meager 60hp engine in the Harley pushes the behemoth around with adequate speed but its not what I would call fast. It vibrates like a paint-shaker at idle but smooths out OK at speed. Things that were stock on my old bike like a temperature gauge and helmet locks had to be added. Anti-dive suspension and front air shocks aren't even available. Handling and brakes are superb and the cruise control is nice. The bike is also uncomfortably hot in traffic. Optional heat deflectors under the seat help. The 6th gear is very nice. No problems yet in 2k mi, but we'll see.
