I have just purchased a 2008 V Star 1100 Classic with 3500kms (2100 mi). First ride impressions were great. I tested a 650/950/1100 both single and two up. No doubt the 1100 was best for 2 up riding. This was the deciding factor, especially over the 950 which just felt a bit top heavy with the passenger in place.
I am 5'6" , 160 lbs so seat height and usable power is all I need. Rode home in a rain storm and the bike handled highway and sideroads with no problem. Now to add the windshield / passenger backrest. Saddlebags in the future as well.
First bike was a 1984 Honda 500 Shadow, loved to for around town stuff, but now the 1100 will get me (and wife ) out in the countryside. Happy riding.
