i traded up from a 800 classic to the 1600 nomad and havent looked back. this bike is like a cadilac runs great fast has the power when it is needed and is extremly comfertable. road 1100.6 miles in 3days to the dragens tail.not once did i get butt lag.
when we started to look at bigger bikes we looked at them all. honda suzuki you had to buy all the extras that come with the nomad yamaha 1 bike to compair to but its a 1100 v4 not a vtwin. h.d. come on! no room for two enles your a match stick. and to get every thing that the nomad has $20,000 or more. mise well buy a fraken car. most of the guys i ride with own hd and the complements i get on my bike well let just say they are impressed.
i have owned thor for 16 months and have just over 16000 miles. my wife loves the back seat and the back rest.she used to not want to ride byt since we have the nomad she will go any were. thanks kawasaki for such a great bike.

many people i know try to get me to buy a HD
but i had already been looking at 1600 for a year .
so i looked at HD to come par apples.
the 1600 came with alot of things already on it
at a far price. the HD cost more and then you would
have to spend more to get to what came with the 1600.
that is not to say HD is a bad bike its just come to $$$
my 1600 is a sweet ride and the girlfriend likes the bigger seat come pared to my old 1500.
i would have like to of had cruse like HD for long rides
also the speedomitro is off 7or more and kaw believes that is ok
not to me
i have 5600 mile on and raedy for anew rear tire

HAPPY RIDING TO ALL

I rented a Harley Electra-Glide to compare before I bought the Nomad. Aside from the engine, which was nearly as good on the Harley, the Electra-Glide rode rough, seemed to have much less capacity and wasn't nearly as roomy or comfortable as the Nomad, which fits my burly 6'-1" frame perfectly. My girlfriend also says the passenger seat on the Vulcan is roomier and much more comfortable

We made a 2300 mile round trip vacation from home in Illinois to the Denver area last summer. The Nomad rode comfortably, didn't miss a beat, hot, cold, thunderstorms, high in the mountains, rolling across the plains. It now has 5400 miles on it and still looks and sounds and runs great. I like Harleys a lot, but this bike beats every one I've ridden.

I bought the bike with a half mile on it, and have not regreted anything about it. I wish that it did have a 6-speed(for longer interstate rides, it has the power). I added a luggage rack and a 12 volt outlet, but that is all it really needed. Good power band through-out the rpm range and the shifting is smooth. I love the air shocks on the rear. Storage is jus right for a four day trip two-up riding.

This is the absolutely perfect ride for me. The balance and handling are superb - you wouldn't even know you were riding a cruiser. I'm tall (6-3), and yet the fit is extremely comfortable and easy. Oustanding value without any qualifiers. I seriously considered the VTX 1800T, Road King, and a couple others. I was skeptical when every road test I read comparing the Nomad to other cruisers in its class consistently put the Nomad on top, usually by a large margin, but after riding it for almost a year - I wouldn't make another choice. A 6-speed transmission would be nice, but there's no power issue here, and Kawasaki could have sprung for some higher-end brakes. Also, and this is true for practically all cruisers, a larger gas tank is a must, and the helmet pegs are poorly placed - you can't use them to carry an extra helmet or keep you helmet on the peg - poorly placed toward the lower front of the bag - but that's easily fixed with an after-market add-on.

This is a great bike for the price. It is a far better running and handling than the other bikes I compared it too. Such as Harley Roadking, I found ruff idle, loud and exspensive. Star Tour Deluxe, cost more and was very top heavy. Honda Goldwing I found to be the most smooth riding and had a high cost, but didn't feel like a motorcycle to me, I felt to high off the ground. The Nomad fet me like a glove, I found both feet planted firmly on the ground. The bike has plenty of power and the sound is not to loud. The engine runs great and it has a drive shaft like the Star and Honda. I found it to be a lot of motorcycle for the money. Plus it has a lot of items that come standard on the Nomad.
