2008 Triumph
Tiger
MSRP $11,199
The Triumph Tiger, with its mile-munching ability and sheer dependability, has won a legion of fans the world over. It lives in a genuinely different space to other bikes in its class, excelling in three distinct areas – it scratches; it tours and it commutes. While its sharp lines and performance spec make the Tiger’s sporting credentials clear from a glance, its stunning looks hide a practical streak. Two-up, you’ve got a bike that comfortably devours miles of tarmac thanks to the relaxed riding position, spacious seat, supple suspension and tractable torquey engine. Back in the city the commanding view really comes into its own, while the wide bars make tight manoeuvres child’s play.

I have owned this bike since October 2008 and have just over 6K on it. I first looked at and test drove both the BMW 1200 GS and R1200RT, both excellent bikes, just a bit north of my price range. My Son rides a 08 Triumph Daytona 675 SE and suggested I check out the Tiger. Needless to say I was hooked after my first test ride! Love the smooth torquey engine, smooth shifting gearbox. It just felt more like what I'm used to. Styling is great, handling is very good and so are the breaks. Only issue and it was more annoying than a real problem and that was that the coolant was extremely dirty and required several flushes including removing the radiator for a through flush. Same was true on my son's Daytona, though he didn't need to remove the radiator. Guess the Factory doesn't clean the cylinder and head casting well enough before assembly. Also I have found the Tiger1050.com website to be chocked full of great information on the Tiger, where I have learned and installed many Farkels. I'm not the only rider, as my Son rides it as much as I do. He really likes the upright seating for around town and long trips. As a mater of fact He's taken on more long out of town trips than me! It have proven very dependable and an all around fun ride!
