I recently purchased the MG 1200 Sport for a number of reasons. The first would have to be the looks/styling. Its Italian lines are more than just symmetry, its down right sexy. People don't buy this bike with the mindset that its the ultimate sport bike. It is not. Its a little down on power, a little heavier than most, and its not water cooled.
What you do get is personality and tradition that hardcore Italian v-twin lovers usually find hard to put into words. The deep, throaty lope of the twin cylinder engine is pure music to the ears. The broad powerband allows you to enjoy the ride, regardless of if you didn't downshift at exactly the right point before cresting the turn. The bars are a reach, but unlike true sport bikes, you're not required to squat in the "stink-bug" riding position that wears one out prematurely.
After a long ride, when you're parked at a roadside cafe, its not the Yamaha or Honda that attract second looks. Even if they got there sooner. The Guzzi Sport is the one they gather to see because it is uniqueness in a world of cookie cutter street legal racers.
