V Star 250
MSRP $3,790
The V Star 250 is the smallest model to carry the Star nameplate. Light weight and with a seat just 27 inches from the pavement, the super-nimble 250 is a great bike for beginners. The archetypal V-Twin engine provides the torquey feel of a larger bike, but with smooth roll-on power for confident riding.

Love the looks. Handles confidently. Actually gets 70+ miles per gallon. Engine has a pretty wide power band from slow to fast for smooth acceleration. Sound is pleasant, never whiny even at high RPM. Geared perfectly. Goes over 70MPH if not too much headwind. Not a zip-zip agile bike, but a decent comute bike with upscale looks for a great price. Only a few things less than perfect... - Transmission / chain has a lot backlash - going from acceleration to engine deceleration is quite jerky - Transmission doesn't shift easily if engine and shifted (moving) speed aren't close. Example slow to a stop then downshift 5 > 1 is very stubbern - Seat becomes uncomfortable after about 50 miles - It is heavy for its size. I can move it up an incline, but it takes a lot of my strength. - No gas guage, but easy enough to reset trip odometer and watch for 110 miles (or more - I've never run to empty)
