Great bike. Have owned a 2005 for 4 years and over 45,000 miles. Average 45-50 mpg. Like many other riders the clutch fiction zone is small, acceleration is excellent, but has some serious "bumps" that can get an inexperienced rider into trouble if not careful, but I understand that Yamaha has fixed these issues on the 2006 and later models. Time between service is better than most bikes, and running Dunlop D616 tires I have averaged 6-7000 miles on the rear and 10-12000 miles on the front. Just completed a 1000+ mile Iron Butt ride in under 23 hours. Bike was a champion. Yamaha needs to offer a rear deck, and hard bag option, this bike can keep up with Goldwings and ST1300 on the open road. It could be a real sport tourer with a few improvements.

best all around bike out there for the money light weight 459lbs full of fluids wet as long as you keep your foot on the shifter to make the engine happy its a rocket if you know how to to keep the motor on ready from 6800 to 12,800RPMS is where it likes to be set on rocket launch. its a little mushy on the bottom that's the price you pay for that super hit the bike has a monstrous hit at 8500rpm be careful and hang on i got my first ticket popping a wheelie at 82 mph had to take driver school to keep insurance in check I'm 54 years old i can not ride with my but up and arms down I'm to old so the little yamie is perfect for my old a-s Wayne Rhodes email rhodeswayne84@yahoo.com
