I enjoy riding this bike, and I am in my mid 30's and nearly 200lbs. The power is tame, but the motor revs to the moon for lots of throttle to play with. The suspension is too soft for anything but trail riding (but bear in mind my size and weight). The electric start is a great convenience, and the bike is very sturdy. I have the small wheel and large wheel version, and on level ground the small wheel will idle forward with no clutch...great for riding slow or wanting to chug up hills. 4 stars for the engine not because of the low HP (it is a 144cc playbike, not a 450 MX) but because it is jetted so lean it takes a lot of choke to get it running and it stumbles a little from closed throttle to WOT. Suspension I rate at 3 because I do think I could be a little firmer from the OEM, and handling at 4 stars only because the soft suspension makes the bike wallow a little in whoops or uneven ground. Otherwise a great bike, and the reason I own 2 of them! As of 2009, I think it is the better playbike out there (compared to CRF150F, and Suzuki's and Yamaha's 125 bikes). For roughly $3K, the bike will please. Anyone who dislikes the bike, I believe, should have bought a different bike in the first place. For kids, a good starter or intermediate bike if it isn't too heavy for them (if 210lbs is "too heavy"), and the clutch can take lots of abuse. For older riders, it is a good playbike to chuck around, goof off on, and not feel guilty about putting a few scratches on it. If the pitbike craze tells you those bikes are too small for you, but you don't want a fullsized 250/450 bike, then if the 230cc sized bikes are too much ($$$ and lbs), the KLX140 (specifically the L model) is an excellent way to split the difference.

the klx 140l dirt bike is the coolest thing i've ever seen. i have not got it yet but i want it really bad. the only thing i do not like about it is the weight. i would have got the kx85 but my dad will not let me get a two-stroke.
