My Suzuki 2009 GZ250 was bought new in beginning of 2010. Since new(now has 1200 miles)the engine has knocked, clattered, and rattled! The front end has a horrible wheel hop as if the spoke wheel is out of round! And recently the front brake has developed a squeal! I sent off two letters to Suzuki customer service. They refuse to correct the problem. Was told I must have an initional valve lash at 500 miles. Cost $140. Then must have inspection(lash)every oil change to remain under warranty! Suzuki Customer Service is none existant. I am unhappy. Sure wish I would have purchased another Yamaha or Honda! I hope many read this before they buy.

The GZ250 looks bigger than it is. From it's wide front tire and fender to it's large tank and well proportioned frame, it gives the appearance of a much larger cycle. The 249cc engine generates about 20hp which is enough to propel this slightly overweight rider at highway speeds. Hills do slow it down but it is still possible to keep it at 55 on most grades. The bike is designed for younger, novice riders and can feel a bit cramped on long rides. Still, the bike feels quite responsive, especially in turns, due in part to it's lower center of gravity and light weight. Components are on the "cheap" side with a lot of plastic and no frills but function well. I have put nearly 9,000 miles on my GZ250 in all types of weather and it has never failed to start or deliver me to where I wanted to go. It is used nearly every day on my 50 mile round trip commute and has paid for itself in gas savings. A great bike if you are new to the sport, or want something dependable and economical for work or pleasure.
