I put over 75,000 miles on a 2005 K1200S. It's weight, fuel efficiency, power, handling and speed are awesome for a shaft drive bike. The K1300S is all that and more. It is more refined. The seat looks the same but is much more comfortable. It shifts smoother, feels more nimble, rides more smoothly, and has a lot more torque. The K1300S fills the niche for someone who wants a bike that does not require a lot of tinkering, can be ridden long distance, then can go like a cheetah in the twisties. It has the best brakes bar none. If you like electronic goodies, it is like Christmas for a 6 year old(Electronic Suspension Adjustment on the fly, trip computer, tire pressure monitoring, automatic stability control, heated grips). It costs more money than the competition, but it will last twice as long. It brings a smile each time I see it in the garage.
It's one fault is lack of electronic cruise control. How BMW missed that is beyond me. It truly is a sport touring machine that is not light on the sport.
