V7 Classic

Four decades after sparking Italian enthusiasm for big displacement V-Twin engines, Moto Guzzi adds a new chapter of history with the U.S. market debut of the 2009 V7 Classic. Acknowledged as one of the most beautifully styled motorcycles of its era, the original V7 became an instant classic when it was unveiled. Not only was it Italy’s first large displacement motorcycle, but the 1967 V7 was also elegantly styled by the legendary designer Giulio Cesare Carcano. Just as importantly, the V7 became an instant technology trendsetter thanks to its innovative transverse, air-cooled V-twin engine with shaft drive. It is this unique engine configuration that ultimately became the single-most recognized Moto Guzzi brand attribute.

My initial impression is that this is a bike for the ladies, or a newbie to motorcycling. Because of its lack of power it would be hard pressed to provide any performance for a normal weight adult male. The only experienced riders I can see riding this bike are one, someone who is getting up in years, two, someone who has lost their nerve and wants something faster than a scooter but still maintain the motorcycle look and is furbie tame, or as a bike to leave at the beach house. Also I heard it has a plastic tank, GIVE ME A BREAK! If they were to offer the larger engine, increase the frame size and use alloy like Star does, and ditch the plastic tank for real steel they would have a serious player, but for those real men who are driving one now, I'd place a paper bag over my head so I wouldnt be laughed at. But for my wife or your girlfriend this would be a tame easy beginners bike for them. Comeon Guzzi, if you want to play with the big boys drop the toys and beef this squirt up;) For those who like the Guzzi look, go to a real bike like the Norge or Giso. For those who I pass on the road on a V7 don't be offended if you see me snickering as we pass.
