With a lightweight design and eye-opening power, The F 800 GS is the most off-road oriented GS ever built. A parallel twin engine with 85 charging horses and 62 lb/feet of torque give it startling speed and breathtaking acceleration. Throw in a dry weight of just 392 lbs, six-speed gear box, switchable ABS, wide foot rests and a 4.2 gallon tank located under the seat for a low center of gravity, and you get a enduro light enough for amazing handling no matter where you're headed. good bike for all around, smooth engine good power excelente brakes, and you can cancel abs when you like good for commute
canyons, long trips, city ride, little off road, the down side is
engine rpm is sound high let say you cruise 80 or 90 mph rpm is 5 to 6k, stock suspension are ok for slow to a cruising speed on dirt rode if you go little faster you will bottom out, its to soft, seat are ok i got use to. if you looking to take more passenger or go more on street rides then off rode is will go on the r1200gs but i will give the bike 8 out of 10

This bike is tall brawny. Freeway cruising top speed about 80 mph with no gear change. Heavy front end, Deep sand risky without Knobbies. Duel sport tires a must for any off-road but stock battlewings great for road only. Really like the low end power and smooth powerful acceleration, clean and fast. Must buy new seat for rides longer than 2 hours IMHO. Have 12000 mi on 2010 with no issues. Wish throttle was not jerky. Really hinders 1st gear thru delicate off-road terrain. Your either jerking forward, or slowing too quickly with no throttle compression on motor. There is no throttle sweet spot to coast slowly in gear, making it a challenge to go slow easily. This GS is bullet proof and a great vale in all around fun. If you want to get off on 4 wheel drive roads this is the bike that can hold its own on the freeway, carry a good load over most terrain, and take it to the limit if you have the skill. Should not be your first bike as it requires advanced handling due to its weight with combined height.

A very nice sporty bike. Quick handling on the rode. Seat is too hard for a long ride. Heated hand grips are nice. Stock tires good for road and fire roads, not for dirt and mud trails. Great fuel mileage. Electronics package is good. Transmission is OK. Brakes are outstanding. Bike has minimal wind protection for highway riding, but good for trail rides. Hand grips could be an eight of an inch thicker. Very light throttle pull. I could ride this bike for hours if the seat was softer. I like it.
