Been riding for 45 yrs, owned just about all makes and models, purchased one of these bike for my wife in 2009 and all she does is grin. I stole it one weekend to do some Dual Sporting and found it quite capable little machine and more user friendly power wise on the road and what's not to like about 65+ mpg. I had tought about purchasing an F800 for myself but I just went and purchased another F650GS for myself. I just spent the last two weeks in the woods of VA and WV and the bike was bullet proof and never back away from some pretty ruff single track stuff, give the bike a fire road or trail and it will fly.

Have been riding for about 20 years, started on dirt bikes. This is my 3rd street bike, the others being a Harley Sportster, and a Yamaha R6. I must say that I love this bike. It handles very well, the workmanship is classic BMW quality, and very fun to ride. I am 5'9" and the bike fits me well. No issues in 8000 miles. I have been averaging 63 mpg witch is not bad either. I have not experienced the previous reviewers complaint about vibrating or rattling body panels. All seem very tight to me. My one complaint would be the seat comfort is not very good on longer rides.

I've been riding for over 50 years so I know somwthing about bikes. The motorcycle is very well balanced, has excellent exceleration, and holds the road well at high speed and cross winds. The down side is it's designed to discourage the owner from doing his/her own service work. In addition the plastic bodyparts tend to vibrate and rattle which, to me, contradicts the BMW reputation for being built solid. The clutch is touchy and hard to get used to and the foot pegs too short. Having said all that I'll still say it's a good ride and worth the money...but barely. It beats a jap bike for sure but it ain't all that.
