Blue Ridge Mountain Wee-Strom Adventure
Thursday, November 3, 2011
Motorcycle USA’s first day of riding the 2012 V-Strom 650 ABS is complete. We piloted the redesigned Wee-Strom from Charlotte, North Carolina up to Little Switzerland, a small resort nestled up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The famed Blue Ridge Parkway is a stone’s throw, well maybe a couple stones’ throw away. We covered about 220 miles on mixture of roads. We even found a little bit of dirt to slide around on, but mostly we stuck to North Carolina’s immaculate, curving backroads. It’s amazing country for two-wheeled enthusiasts.
The Wee-Strom has proven a fun little mount thus far. This redesigned version has all-new styling, a little bit stronger engine and most important, tighter suspension settings from the previous model. I’m unfamiliar with the previous versions, but a couple of my colleagues have spent a good amount of time on the 2011 model. They claim it’s a dramatic improvement. I’m riding the special Adventure version for the US market, which comes with crash guards, touring windscreen and aluminum saddlebags. Now its off for more miles, maybe more dirt. Stay tuned for full riding impression.
