Ducati Streetfighter Voted Best-Looking

2009 Ducati Streetfighter
The Ducati Streetfighter hasn't even hit the streets and it's already winning awards, like 'Most Beautiful Bike of the Show' at the recent Milan Motorcycle Show.
The Ducati Streetfighter is officially the best-looking bike at the 2008 Milan show. Voted on by more than 20,000 enthusiasts taking part in a survey organized by Italian magazine Motociclismo, the award shows the Streetfighter to be an immediate success.

The new Bolognese superbike in the nude claimed more than 25% of the votes; followed by the Aprilia RSV4 Factory and the MV Agusta Brutale 1078RR.

The award ceremony took place on the official Motolive stage in the presence of General Manager of the Milan Motorcycle Show, Costantino Ruggero, while closing an intense week of exhibition and events over which 500,000 visitors filled the halls of the Milan-Rho exhibition center.

This prize is confirmation of the great interest shown by visitors in the new Streetfighter, and further proof of how much energy and resources Ducati is dedicating to its continuous development of new products.

The new Ducati Streetfighter was the undisputed star of the Milan show. Stripped to the bare essentials, its combination of state-of-the-art race technology, exposed styling and cultured design has taken Ducati's big naked concept to the very top of the fighter food chain.

With 155 hp of Ducati L-Twin muscle harnessed in a stripped-down, super-light, bike that packs more punch for its weight than any other contender, the Streetfighter becomes the new benchmark for the sector.

The Ducati Streetfighter is equipped with everything that made the superbike a legend. Awesome L-Twin power from the Testastretta Evoluzione 1098cc engine that produces 85lb-ft (11.7kgm) of heavyweight torque, and thoroughbred chassis technology featuring Ducati's trademark trellis frame, beautiful single-sided swingarm and planet-stopping monobloc brakes. The 'S' version is further equipped with sophisticated Öhlins suspension, lightweight forged wheels, carbon fiber components, and the exclusive Ducati Traction Control system designed for street use.

The bike is awsome in evry detail. However the price stated on some websited seems to be a bit scary for petential customers $ 18K for the S verions? Hope the price be more reasonable. I'd buy it if priced well under $18K Regards

One can probably make a case that the shorter wheelbase and steep rake of the Buell 1125CR might make it a sharper handling bike than the Ducati. However, those same two specs can also make it more twitchy. Considering that most of us are not racers, we probably can't exploit the handling of the Buell without suffering from some of it's drawbacks. When I buy a motorcycle I want to feel and look good riding it whether I'm spending $12,000 or $16,000. Sorry, Buell lovers, but that 1125CR is nothing short of hideous, and I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on a bike that looked like that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for the Buell 1125CR it's not in my eyes. And, even if one of you Buell riders by some chance happen to get around me on a corner, it won't hurt my feelings one bit because at the end of the day my Ducati is still going to be art, and you're Buell is still going to be ugly. :-)

When I get naked the Ducati Streetfighter is the only way to go. This bike is the best looking streetfighter, production non custom bike that is. All the other naked bikes will have a tuff time trying to top this bike!!! The Ducati Streetfighter is the "S#@t"

Beatiful bike, naked is in! I cant see paying that king of jack for that ride. I am plenty happy w/ 10k 08 FZ1. This tough economic times make it harder to splurge on toys these ays.

the buell model competing with this bike is the 1125cr. not 1150... anyways, you can shave 10 to 12 pounds, gain up to 10bhp, and 7 lb/ft from an aftermarket pipe.... all at like 5-600... a price easily justified when looking at the price of this ducati... but this duc is beautifull, and honestly, I love almost all ducatis... but the buell should be a bit more reliable, and cost effective. also, it gets linear torque at around 2000 rpm... so should out pull this duc... but the duc is designed for over 180 mph, which the buell cannot compete w/ when it comes to top end... looks like it will come down to the depth of your pockets... both amazing bikes. :-)

the buell msrp is $11,650 or so. Not as hot as the ducati but it can throw some punches. Bring on those naked bike comparos. Cb1000r, bking, Fz1, Vmax, Benelli, corsaro, buell 1150cr, Z1000, Ducati streetfighter, tuono, speed triple, BMW k1300r, Or HP2 mega moto,New brutale and KTM super duke

I love that Ducati finally made a stripped 1098. BUT, I do feel they should have taken the opportunity to give the Streetfighter it's own tank and rear tail section to further improve it's style. This becomes more of an issue if the pricing really is going to be close to the 1098 or now the new 1198. I am still trying to determine if Ducati used the 1098 tank and tail section to save money or to strengthen the 1098 parentage? Nonetheless I would take one in a second if a half fairing was an option.
Mike -Gorgeous? Yes. Overpriced? Yes.  November 12, 2008 12:16 PM
The bike is, "inspire fat people to hit the gym," good looking. The look, the intent, the performance, it's all there. So far, all I have seen is that the base model is $15 k, and the 'S' model is $19 k. I hope that is not case. If the base version cost within $500 above what the Buell 1125CR cost, and the 'S' was about $14 k. Ducati wouldn't be able to build enough of the bikes.
