Don't miss the Mods vs. Rockers Chicago Rally June 14 and 15, it's going to be bigger than ever!
The country’s largest Mods vs. Rockers event is getting bigger as the ninth annual event moves to Chicago’s historic Aragon ballroom this June 14 and 15. More than 4,000 café racers, scooters, customs and hot rods descended on the event last year, outgrowing the city streets that spawned the rally.

“People are coming to the Mods vs. Rockers Chicago event from throughout the U.S. and Canada. The rally outgrew its North Lincoln Avenue location so we’re moving it a few blocks over to Lawrence Avenue and the historic Aragon ballroom so more people can get the same great experience,” said event organizer Larry Fletcher.

The Aragon has ample parking that allows the Motorcycle & Scooter Show to be safely held off-street with room for hundreds of bikes plus separate lots for an expanded Hot Rod Car Show and Vendors Row.

Great live music for the 2013 Mods vs. Rockers Vintage Motorcycle and Scooter Rally presented by Triumph Motorcycles includes “The Rockabilly Rumble” concerts featuring “Stray Cat” Lee Rocker, Reverend Horton Heat, JD McPherson, and the Supersuckers. In addition to an outdoor concert stage, the Aragon features a beautiful 5,000-seat venue conducive to national and international performers that will help elevate the event to a whole new level.

Musical performances are at the Cobra Lounge and Fat Cat on Friday, June 14, and at the Aragon Ballroom on Saturday, June 15.

Other events include a Pin-Up Contest where participants dress in 40’s and 50’s style attire, hair and makeup, a Motorcycle Film Festival, and an all-night Mod Dance Party with Windy City Soul Club.

Also on hand at the Aragon will be a freestyle riding exhibition by Team Empire’s Nick Brocha and Ernie Vigil, who star in Icon Motosport’s popular “Motorcycle vs. Car Drift 2” and “Portland to Dakar” YouTube videos.

Named after the sensationalized 1960s dust-ups between scooter-riding “Mods” and motorcycle-mounted “Rockers” in England, the Mods vs. Rockers Chicago event eschews fighting for good times, great music and a sea of cool motorcycles, scooters and hot rods.

The Aragon ballroom opened in 1923, replicating an outdoor Spanish palace courtyard with crystal chandeliers, mosaic tiles, painted plaster, terra-cotta ceiling and beautiful arches. It became the most popular dance hall in America and has featured performers including Frank Sinatra, Lawrence Welk, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo, Dick Jurgens, and Harry James as well as the Doors, the Kinks, the Grateful Dead, Joe Crocker, Sha-Na-Na, B.B. King, the Byrds, Jethro Tull, and Steppenwolf.
