Belgian TT - Gedinne - Saturday and Sunday August 29/30

The Belgian TT uses real country lanes for its race track.

The Belgian TT returns to the historic Gedinne circuit this weekend for a packed two days of thoroughly old fashioned classic racing on a circuit taken straight from the Golden Age of Grands Prix.

Gedinne is located in southern Belgium, near to the French border. The 3.1 mile circuit comprises regular country lanes which climb and swoop through the wooded Ardennes countryside. Jim Redman, Mike Hailwood and Giacomo Agostini would have been completely at home here in their heyday.

There is a myriad of classes from the screaming lightweights all the way to the heavy metal of the Authentics - genuine, period Grand Prix bikes in all their glory.

If the track and riders are straight from 1965 so are the admission prices. A two day ticket costs just 8 Euros and the spectator viewing is excellent.

Race fans, weary of being miles away from the track, can lean over the stone walls - topped with barbed wire of course - and get a real feel for Health and Safety regulations as they were 40 years ago. If you are tired of needing binoculars to see the action Gedinne is the place to get close enough to look inside carburettors of the bikes screaming past at 100mph.

More information can be found on crmb.be and this site offers lots of information in English. The action starts at 08.00 on both days and continues all day.
