Motorcycle Holiday Gear Bag - Heed

Wednesday, November 25, 2009
As we count down the final days of 2009, Waheed shares the pieces of equipment he simply couldn’t live without this year both on and off-road.

MOTO

Thor Flux Riding Gear - $244.85 - $254.85

Explosive power Not really. Instead it is smooth and controllable throughout the 13 400 rpm range.

Waheed’s favorite moto gear for 2009 includes: Thor’s Flux pant, jersey and glove; the Leatt Moto GPX Neck Brace; and Alpinestars Tech 10 boots.

Thor’s newest and most premium riding gear is perhaps the best fitting off-road riding kit I’ve ever worn. Both the Thor Flux Pant and Thor Flux Jersey feature a slender cut that follow the natural slope of my body. Excess fabric is kept to a minimum which makes it feel as if it was tailor fit. Without a doubt, this gear isn’t for riders with heavier builds, but if you happen to have a svelte body type than you won’t find a set of gear that fits better than Thor’s Flux. Equally as impressive are the materials' effective ventilation, top-quality construction and durability despite near constant use.

Alpinestars Tech 10 Boots - $579.95

When it comes to protecting your feet, I wouldn’t trust my tootsies in anything other than Alpinestars Tech 10 Boots. At $579.95 they carry a hefty price tag, but the fit, style, and protection offered by the boot are second to none. Even better is the superior construction which has stood up to a year of abuse.

Leatt Moto Club GPX Neck Brace - $395

Unfortunately for me, crashing and motocross go hand in hand. Therefore, my Leatt Moto Club GPX Neck Brace has plenty of scrapes and scratches from various tumbles. Throughout, the brace has kept my head, neck, and back safe. When fitted properly, one doesn’t even notice it while riding. Consequently, it has become one of the pieces of gear I won’t ride without.

ROAD

SHIFT Vertex One-Piece Suit - $1199.95

Here Waheed harnesses the power of ol No. 46 at Mugello.
For the ultimate in fit, safety, and of course style on the road, check out the SHIFT Vertex One-Piece suit and Alpinestars Supertech R Boots.

Flat out, the SHIFT Vertex One-Piece Suit is one of the best values in the one-piece leather suit market. It fits great for an off-the-rack suit and the quality of its leather and styling are at a higher level than its reasonable $1199.95 price tag would lead you to believe. After an entire season's use the suit has held together perfectly and still can be mistaken for new.

Alpinestars Supertech R Boots - $449.95

Bar none, Alpinestars Supertech R Boots are the most comfortable road racing boots money can buy. In typical Astars fashion, the boots offer an elevated level of protection and styling. The boots come in four colorways that will match any other gear you have.

Pictured above is Alpinestars Shibuya Waterproof shoe constructed out of synthetic leather.
Alpinestars Shibuya Shoes - $129.95 - $189.95

The Alpinestars Shibuya Waterproof Shoe is designed for the motorcyclist looking for a modern, casual looking shoe without compromising safety. The shoes come in a variety of different constructions including canvas and both genuine and synthetic leather. The canvas is perfect for warmer weather, while the leather models are best suited for cooler climates. If you’re looking for a stylish pair of sneakers that you can wear on or off the bike then pickup a pair of Shibuyas.
