QWEST
Get Out There…

Introduction
No matter what we ride, where our final destination, or the path we choose to get there, every motorcyclist shares the same common thread when throwing a leg over their machine. It’s the journey—the exhilarating search for adventure—that draws us to the road, and SHOEI’s all-new QWEST embodies what every rider seeks to experience along the way. It’s the spectacular views, the intense sensations, and the overwhelming feeling of freedom that only the open road can provide, and the QWEST’s unrivaled attention to detail will now allow you to spend more time on it.

Revolutionary noise-reduction technology, unsurpassed long-distance comfort, advanced ventilation performance, a light weight, balanced fit and feel, and over 50 years of helmet-building experience have combined to deliver the finest touring helmet known to man. The all-new, groundbreaking QWEST—It’s your journey… Enjoy every mile of it.

Noise Reduction Technology
Thanks to countless hours in SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel, QWEST owners will reap the benefits of exhilarating solitude on the road. A reduction of wind noise without blocking the road’s “informative sounds” was the ultimate goal, and that goal was achieved through optimal shell aerodynamics, and liner components designed to prevent unwanted road noises from entering through the bottom of the helmet. The result: A maximum 2.2 dB* reduction in sound. A quiet ride means a less fatiguing journey, and the QWEST allows you to hear the difference without hearing it at all. Enjoy the silence.

*Noise levels vary based on motorcycle type, riding position, environmental sounds, etc.

Ventilation Performance
As the inventor of ventilated full-face motorcycle helmets back in 1984, SHOEI has been making advancements to its in-helmet climate systems for over 25 years. Utilizing SHOEI’s wind tunnel to help reveal the optimal balance between airflow and silence, SHOEI engineers equipped the all-new QWEST with a larger Lower Vent shutter for easier use with riding gloves; a strategically-positioned Upper Vent for optimal air intake, and uniquely-positioned Upper Exhaust Vents to take better advantage of negative pressure suction—all yielding dramatically-improved cool-air intake and hot-air expulsion.

Dual-Layer EPS Liner
In addition to offering enhanced impact absorption by adjusting thickness and density in key areas, SHOEI’s Dual-Layer EPS Liner allows cooling air to travel unrestricted through tunnels created in the EPS, further augmenting the superior ventilation characteristics of the new QWEST.

Interior Comfort System
When designing a touring helmet with legendary comfort characteristics, stellar ventilation performance is just one piece of the equation. SHOEI takes great pride in its interior systems, and the all-new QWEST is equipped with a 3D center pad, fully removable, washable, and replaceable multi-layer cheek pads, and removable chinstrap covers. The 3D center pad components are three-dimensionally shaped to match the contours of a rider’s head. This 3D fitment allows SHOEI to provide a helmet with an extremely comfortable fit, while maintaining the firm hold that is necessary for distraction-free, high-speed riding. The QWEST’s multi-layer cheek pads are available in six different thicknesses to allow riders to customize the fit of their new helmet. In addition, the liner features eyeglass channels and an integrated neck pad that, when combined with the other aerodynamic features of the helmet, provide an extremely quiet riding experience.

AIM+ Shell (Snell M2010-Approved) With Shell-Integrated Spoiler
Few components of a motorcycle helmet are as critical as its first-layer defense, which is precisely why the new QWEST features the revolutionary Snell M2010-approved AIM+ shell. Combining fiberglass with organic fibers, the QWEST’s proprietary AIM+ Shell is not only incredibly strong, it is extremely lightweight, and comes in an industry-leading five shell sizes to ensure a custom fit for heads between the sizes of XXS-XXL.

In addition, SHOEI’s exclusive, state-of-the-art shell forming technology incorporates the aerodynamic advantages of a spoiler right into the shell of the QWEST, thereby eliminating the need for a traditional plastic spoiler. Reducing lift and drag during high-speed riding, the QWEST’s shell-integrated spoiler yields a stable, less fatiguing ride.

Q.R.S.A. (Quick Release Self-Adjusting) Base Plate System
Equipped with the innovative Quick Release Self-Adjusting (QRSA) base plate system, the QWEST features the significant advantage of SHOEI’s patented spring-loaded technology. Adjusting base plates for proper sealing is a thing of the past, as every time the CW-1 shield is lowered, the spring-loaded mechanism pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly, ensuring a wind and waterproof seal.

Several graphic combinations are available with the QWEST as well as the basic solid colors. This is called the Airfoil TC-2.

Also widely appreciated is the convenience of the QRSA’s shield preset lever, as it allows a rider to lock down his or her shield in when conditions dictate, or crack the shield open just slightly to allow for additional airflow while on the go.

CW-1 Shield
Like the X-Twelve and RF-1100 models, the all-new QWEST comes equipped with the innovative CW-1 shield. Both wider and taller than most other shields on the market, the CW-1 shield protects riders from 99% of the sun’s damaging UV rays, and SHOEI’s three-dimensional injection-molding process ensures a distortion-free view throughout the entire field of vision.

Another advantage of the CW-1 shield is its ability to work in conjunction with SHOEI’s optional Pinlock system to deliver fog-free vision in even the most challenging conditions. The CW-1 Pinlock lens is larger than those of the past, and offers fog-free viewing to the very top of the helmet’s large eye port.
