Ducati Newport Beach Grand Opening

Monday, August 24, 2009

Ducati North America opened its newest dealership in Newport Beach, California with a grand opening party.
Ducati North America celebrated the opening of its newest motorcycle dealership in Newport Beach, California, this weekend with a grand opening party Friday night. Open to all Ducati motorcycle enthusiasts, the soiree kicked off a weekend of activity at Ducati Newport Beach.

In typical Italian fashion appetizers and drinks were offered to all who turned out and a DJ mixed beats ensuring a fun vibe. Also in attendance was Ducati’s factory American Superbike racer, Larry Pegram, who competes on a Ducati 1098R in AMA Pro Road Racing’s American Superbike class. Fresh off a win in Topeka a few weeks ago, Pegram was all smiles, mingling with fans, posing for photos and signing autographs. Later on, models strutted around in some of Ducati’s newest 2010 riding and casual apparel.

“It’s really cool that Ducati does stuff like this,” said one area rider who showed up on his Ducati 1098 Superbike. “This is the kind of stuff that separates Ducati from the other guys. It’s like you’re part of the family.”

Area Ducati enthusiasts were treated to free food and drinks inside.

On Saturday, the dealership hosted a free suspension tuning clinic, demo rides on this year’s Ducati motorcycles, and offered a 25% discount on new Ducati branded apparel. L&L Motorsports rolled in their mobile dyno machine so riders could see how much power their motorcycles pump out. The Oakley Rolling O Lab was also parked out in front of the store and allowed customers to see first-hand how tough Oakley lenses really are.

If you’re in the Orange County, California, area make sure to check out Ducati Newport Beach as they have the full-line of Ducati motorcycles including the all-new 2010 Ducati Streetfighter, not to mention a full parts, service and apparel departments.

Case -Area man checks bank account, decides to skip grand opening  August 24, 2009 02:30 PM
I live in Costa Mesa and have driven by this location hundreds of times. I think it's probably a good spot for a Ducati dealership: lots of traffic, and lots of people that can afford to pay extra to be part of the 'family'. I hope that Mike has success. I didn't agree with this from one of the attendees: “It’s really cool that Ducati does stuff like this,” said one area rider who showed up on his Ducati 1098 Superbike. “This is the kind of stuff that separates Ducati from the other guys. It’s like you’re part of the family.” Nonsense. That's probably the last thing that separates Ducati from the other guys. You can get the same thing from a Harley shop, and I hope this kind of social atmosphere spreads to some of the other shops. But all this is just marketing and has nothing to do with the actual bike. Ducati HAS to do stuff like this to differentiate themselves from the Big 4. They cannot compete on other points, such as price, so they sell 'lifestyle'. Fine if you're into that, but for me the focus is the bikes, because the bikes are bitchin. As for the 'lifestyle': meh, you can keep it. I'm going for a ride.
