Ultimate Builder Bike Show Atlanta Results 2012

The 2012 Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show presented by J&P Cycles kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 2-4, 2012, with builders coming in from as far as Chicago and Dallas to compete. The Ultimate Builder shows travel around the country in conjunction with the International Motorcycle Shows and provide an avenue for some of the best custom motorcycle building talent around to battle it out for cash, prizes and prestige. For the competitors who came from afar for the Atlanta show, it was worth the trip for these metal artisans as they captured four out of the six top awards.

The IronWork Magazine's Editor's Choice Award was handed out by Vincent Stemp to Kyle Shorey for his bike called Speedmetal, a motorcycle that started out as a Saxon Crown chopper until Kyle put his fabrication skills to it and fobbed up a slew of killer new bodywork. Blacksmith Motoring double up in Atlanta by winning both the Modified Harley class for their 2005 Deluxe in addition to the Modified Street Class.
Blacksmith Motoring doubled up in Atlanta by winning both the Modified Harley class for the 2005 H-D Deluxe (above) in addition to captruing the Modified Street Class for its stroked, turbo-charged 2008 Yamaha Roadliner called El Vendetta (below).
El Vendetta  a 2008 Yamaha Roadliner with a turbo-charged Blacksmith 120 cubic-inch stroker  took home top honors in the Modified Street Class for Gio and the Blacksmith Motoring crew.

Freestyle Class
Kyle Shorey of Shadetree Fabrications took the win in the FreeStyle class at the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show in Atlanta with Speedmetal. The bike doubled up on trophies as mentioned it also took IronWork's Magazine Editor's Choice award and will be featured in the magazine in an upcoming issue. The bike began life as a customer's Saxon Crown chopper and the wheels, engine, brakes and tranny were salvaged from the donor bike. A strong feature of the bike is the prototype Springer, which will be available to the public shortly.

Modfied Harley
The Modified Harley class was won by a builder new to the Harley market, Blacksmith Motoring. The bike features eight-stage candy paint with ghost graphics, a cholo exhaust system, acid-etched apehangers, a Blacksmith Diamond 21" front, 16" rear and slams down courtesy of Remote Air Ride.

Performance Custom
Garwood Custom Cycles' Neptune Crisp took the win in the Performance Custom Class at the Ultimate Builder Show in Atlanta. The 2007 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 features a 19" front wheel, 300 Wide Tire kit with chrome RC Component Wheels, an Air FX Air Ride System and braided brake lines. A dual blue/ white light kit with remote and headlight halo makes the bike glow.

Retro Modified
Michael Lewis of Violent Choppers took the win in Retro Modified with Flat Busted, a 1947 Harley-Davidson UL Flathead. The rigid custom retro bobber features a Harley Flathead 80" engine, an S&S Super E Carb and a deep black paint job by Kelvin McKeig.

Modified Street
GIO from Blacksmith Motoring drove in from Chicago to debut his latest build, El Vendetta, and took home the win in Modified Street at Ultimate Builder Atlanta. The 2008 Yamaha Retroliner has a turbo-charged Blacksmith 120 cubic-inch stroker with forged pistons, lightning crank and Blacksmith heads & intake. The bike rolls with a 26" front wheel, air ride and 6 piston Hawg Halters brakes.

The “Big Money Winners” so far are Kyle Shorey and Gio from Blacksmith Motoring who each pocketed $2500 for their wins in Atlanta. Both are headed to Texas this weekend for the second round of the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Shows 2012 as it heads to Dallas Nov. 9-11.
