Even with two local NFL teams (the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens) competing in the playoffs, motorcycle enthusiasts still showed up in force over the weekend at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in DC. A big highlight for the crowds was the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show, the sixth round of competition featuring custom rides ranging from stretched-out choppers and ‘Busas to rusted sleds with interesting twists.

FreeStyle
C&C Cycle rolled three custom bikes into the DC edition of the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show and came out big with a $2500 FreeStyle win with its entry called Drug of Choice. Owned by Conrad Filbert, the 1996 Harley Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy features a raked neck and Ness 'Massive' front fork assembly, custom fenders, and a wide tire kit. Other touches that helped it win the Freestyle class was its stretched gas tank and details like a custom made spotlight bracket and frenched-in LED tailight.

Modified Harley
Adams Karns turned his shop-worn ’01 Sportster into a primo new school board tracker that rocked the 2012 J&P Ultimate Builder, DC. Karns Kustoms’ Sporty features a clean revision of the backside thanks to a Twisted Choppers rear. This is offset by a modified DNA Springer on the front and clean internally wired bars. The Harley’s tidy aesthetics are completed by a custom gas tank and a black powder coated V-Twin mated to stubby Karns Kustoms exhaust.

Modified Street
Leave it to Gio! Blacksmith Motoring Co. is making a habit of capturing the Modified Street class with their 2008 Yamaha Retroliner / Roadliner called El Vendetta. And with good reason. Their hyper-bagger features a 255 hp 120 CI stroker kit, a turbo and competition cams. Special features include a Blacksmith Retroliner front-end conversion kit, Blacksmith front and rear three-piece steel fenders and a swept-down Houdini Illusion beach bar setup. The bike sports an engraved 26-inch front wheel and race-tuned front suspension. The back features a 240mm rear and Bandito rear air ride. To compensate for the power boost, Blacksmith utilized 13-inch rotors with a six-piston caliber to quell the wrath of El Vendetta.
