Red Bull opened its gates and invited MotoUSA to its little slice of off-road riding heaven for an exclusive look at its athlete training and riding facility in the beautiful hills surrounding Lake Piru. Located outside of Los Angeles, California, the secluded area boasts over 1000 acres of land, providing Red Bull athletes the opportunity to train at every off-road riding discipline in the never ending quest to be the best.

There are three dedicated moto practice tracks; one to simulate the high speeds and natural obstacles of an outdoor motocross track and two other smaller, tighter Supercross-style tracks, one of which is configured to the upcoming Anaheim 3 round scheduled in February.

A quarter-pipe is also located on the grounds where Red Bull freestyle riders like Ronnie Renner and Robbie Maddison perfect their trade.

Given the recent rain that saturated the area—lush green grass and tall leafy vegetation engulfed the compound’s surroundings and was a pleasant contrast to the typically dust and dirt of Southern California’s most popular riding spots.

Although both practice tracks were in perfect condition, many of the riders gravitated to the more forgiving outdoor motocross track and spent a good part of the day putting in laps, throwing big whips, and just having a little fun on a beautiful, albeit windy, day.

The majority of the Honda Red Bull squad was in attendance including Andrew Short, Davi Millsaps, Ivan Tedesco, and new recruit 2008 MotoUSA Rider of the Year, Ashley Fiolek. Supercross Lites racer Chris Blose also practiced on behalf of the Troy Lee Designs Honda team.

Representing the big show faction of Red Bull’s dirt bike team were riders Robbie Maddison, who recently managed to notch his name in the history books for a second successive year after his daring New Year No Limits spectacle in Las Vegas, Nevada. Joining the Australian was USA’s own Ronnie Renner, whose done his fair share of record breaking, courtesy of his personal Red Bull Experiment, along with Lance Coutry and Jack Rowe.
