KTM off-road motorcycle riding enthusiasts took over
Perris Raceway—California’s oldest motocross racetrack—earlier this week for a motorcycle customer appreciation ride day. The event was the first of its kind for
KTM and allowed its customers to enjoy Perris’ epic track sans the $25 gate fee.
Joining them on track were factory motocross pilots, Justin Brayton and Tommy Searle, both whom campaign KTM 450 and 250 SX-Fs in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Also present was KTM’s two-wheeled stunt specialist, Ronnie Renner, fresh of his most recent high flying motorcycle escapade labeled the
Red Bull High Rise.
“It’s cool to get out here and ride with everyone,” said Searle, who currently sits in fourth place in the 250 Motocross class. “It’s good just to come and hang out with no pressure.“
Company reps were also present showing off some of their 2010 off-road motorcycle models including the new 450 SX-F motocross bike which features an updated chassis, new brakes and a 5-speed gearbox. Also in attendance were the folks from SHIFT, showcasing some of their newest moto gear. FMF also had their set-up in full force, showing off some of its high-performance exhaust systems.
As I rested in between riding sessions I couldn’t help but notice just how devote a following KTM has. You always hear that KTM owners “bleed orange” and as soon as you chat with one, you’ll soon discover just how true that adage is.
“This is great,” said one 20-something rider putting in laps aboard his 250 SX-F race bike. “You know with the economy the way it is, I don’t get out and ride as much as I want to cause I just don’t have that much money. So it’s really cool that KTM hosted this ride day. I love it. It’s a chance for me to get out and ride with a bunch of my friends.”

KTM brought out its updated 2010 450 SX-F motocross bike for riders to take a look at.
“Once I saw the announcement on
ProRide, I called the family and told them we’d have to have the 12th off from work so we could come up here and ride,” said another Orange rider who brought his son out to ride. “With the economy it’s tough to come out and ride every day, or, once a week like we use to do. So it’s nice that they could put something like this on and get all the KTM guys together and ride.”
Overall it was a great day of riding around Perris’ perfectly manicured moto track. KTM says they hope to do more customer appreciation ride days with another one possibly coming this fall.
