Oakley has an actual working tank parked right outside its Southern California headquarters.
Recently high-performance eyewear and optics manufacturer, Oakley opened the doors to its Southern California fortress for the Oakley Factory Pilot Tour. The experience allows enthusiasts to learn the benefits and understand the vigorous tests that go into its products.
Typically, these demonstrations are held within Oakley’s Rolling-O lab (basically a huge black truck converted into a rolling test lab, hence the clever name). This time, the company changed it up by conducting the demo within its futuristic auditorium. Watch the video below and see for yourself the benefits of Oakley eyewear.
A gift bag including a pair of Oakley gloves, Factory Pilot Tour T-shirt, and a set of custom Oakley goggles where presented to the first 300 people. Afterwards visitors mingled within its bomb-proof steel walls, sipping on drinks, and playing in the assorted real-life fighter jet ejection seats while a DJ mashed up beats. The folks from Transworld Motocross were also there raising money for Ross Maeda, owner of Enzo Racing, who recently injured himself in a motocross riding accident. Outside, freestyle motocross riders Drake McElroy, Mike Mason, Greg Garrison, and Tim O’Brien filled the air with the charming tinge of blue smoke from their 2-Stroke dirt bikes. The gang wowed moto junkies with a quick show and Mason even pulled a few Travis Pastrana-style back flips. Later everyone funneled back inside the auditorium to view Kickstart, a new motocross video assembled by the folks over at Transworld.
