This Thanksgiving weekend, the crew at Troy Lee Design’s presents the Day in the Dirt Motocross Grand Prix race. This yearly dirt bike racing affair, inspired by the late actor and hardcore racing enthusiast Steve McQueen, returns the theatrics of old school motorcycle racing, by bringing the Hollywood film and stunt industry and area motocross scene together for the purpose of riding, racing, and having a good time. This year’s contest is again being held at L.A. County Raceway just northeast of Los Angeles.

On paper, the track features a fun, long, and challenging layout full of dirt obstacles built inside and around LACR’s 7-story deep crater-like pit. A long pavement straightaway has also been incorporated further adding to the challenge and making it a true dirt bike Grand Prix.

Racing festivities kick off on Friday, first with the Troy Lee Happy Hour Practice. In between the morning and afternoon practice sessions, the Stunt Scrambles Invitational race will go off. All the entry fees collected for Friday will benefit the Boys and Girls Republic, a Southern California school for troubled kids. Saturday and Sunday each have a full-days worth of racing, highlighted by the Stunt GP Team, Moto-A-GoGo Pro/Am Team, and ultra-hardcore endurance style Coup de Grace Survival race.

If you’re looking to race, there is a class for you no matter what kind of bike you ride—big or small. Although pre-entries are closed, race day entries will be accepted for those classes that aren’t full. Fans and motorsports enthusiasts are welcome to come out and partake in the festivities.
