A sea of spectators were happy that the 2012 Motocross season has finally arrived.
James Stewart opened the season with a 1-1 finish, no doubt making the folks at Yoshimura Suzuki very happy.
James Stewart's teammate Brett Metcalfe fared well at Hangtown, posting a 4-5 finish and earning fifth overall.
Davi Millsaps scored big in Moto 1 with a second place finish. He wrecked in Moto 2 but was able to get up and finish in 14th. DM took seventh overall at Hangtown.

Replacing Ryan Villopoto on the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, Tyla Rattray suffered an early crash in Moto 1 and injured his wrist. He was unable to continue at Hangtown.
Kyle Regal filled in James Stewart's old spot on the JGRMX Yamaha team. Regal posted a 28-17 finish at Hangtown.
Ken Roczen battled at the front of the 250 pack in both Motos at Hangtown, taking a 2-3 finish at the end of the day.
Andrew Short was unable to take a podium at Hangtown, but is currently tied in points for third place with Brett Metcalfe and Mike Alessi.
Ivan Tedesco joined his old team for the 2012 Lucas Oil Motocross Championship Series and was able to score fourth overall at Hangtown.
Broc Tickle took a 6-7 finish at Hangtown.
Eli Tomac looked strong in Moto 1, taking fourth place but faltered a bit in Moto 2 taking 10th.
Jake Weimer scored a 10-6 finish at Hangtown.
Defending 250 Motocross champion Dean Wilson pulled out in Moto 1 due to his injured shoulder. He decided to remain out of Motocross until he is healed and will be unable to defend his title this year.
Jessica Patterson (center) scored the win overall in Women's Motocross, followed by Ashley Fiolek (left) in second and Tarah Gieger (right) in third.
Defending Women's MX champ Ashley Fiolek took a 1-5 finish at Hangtown.
Jessica Patterson's 2-2 finish secured her the top overall spot in Women's Motocross at Hangtown.
Weimer passed 30 riders in the opening 450 Class moto.
Stewart (7) and Baggett (12) posted the quickest practice laps in their respective classes.
