The link lever ratio for the shock was changed to make the suspension
damping characteristic progressive.
Intake camshaft timing was changed resulting in smoother power.
The completely new transmission design achieves a smooth yet solid shift feel.
The 2013 Suzuki RM-Z250 features a large amount of engine updates in both the bottom and top end.

The 2013 Suzuki RM-Z250 receives a new Showa Separate Function Fork up front to reduce weight and friction as well as increase performance.
The frame has been refined for a better balance of rgidity.
The muffler was
redesigned to enhance mid-to-high rpm range output and controllability without
sacrificing low rpm performance.
New Dunlop MX51 series tires have been added to enhance traction.
The front fork inner tube diameter has been increased from 47mm to 48mm for
added stability and absorption.
See felt that the RM-Z could use a little more on the bottom end to get over some of the jumps immediately out of corners.
