Suzuki made major changes last year but the 2009 RM-Z450 only gets a few minor changes to the styling.
Suzuki raised the stakes in 2008 by equipping the RM-Z450 with fuel injection, but the 2009 version isn't making nearly the splash of excitement with only aesthetic upgrades for the new model. The big-bore MXer still features the EFI and five-speed transmission that vastly improved the bike last year, but a new set of graphics, matching seat cover, yellow front numberplate and color change on the radiator shroud to yellow/black instead of yellow/blue are the highlights this season.

The 2009 RM-Z250 also hosts the same visual upgrades except for the shrouds which are all yellow this year. Bad news for the 2-stoke lovers, Suzuki has officially stopped importing any full-size smokers with the exclusion of the RM250 for '09. The big-wheeled RM85L has also been dropped, leaving only the RM85.

Kids do have other options, however, with the DR-Z125(L) and DR-Z70.

Here's what Suzuki has to say about the two new full-size models.

Cam Cumming - re rmz 450 or 250 toss up.  January 22, 2009 01:14 PM
Depending on how big you are is really the thing that decides what one of the two suits you. Also what level you are at, experience and fitnes wise. To be frank if your under 85kgs and you are not racing for your country, the 250 is always going to be the better choice weather it be riding in the open or doing moto x. Your lap times will be significantly faster, you wont go home feeling like uve just survived an air crash, financially your better off not only the cost of buying it but also in the long term maintaining it. Id go the 250
