ATV Adventure Tour: Bolivia Chiquitania Photo Gallery
The Bolivian ATV adventure was excruciatingly difficult but provided an unmatched experience.
See Mike Calabro dodge thugs, brave swamps and withstand a serious bout of illness in Bolivia in the ATV Adventure Tour: Bolivia Chiquitania photo gallery.
Splashing in the swamp land was fun, but you never knew what was lurking just beneath the surface.
Riders on the ATV tour proceeded with caution after a large group of caiman were spotted in the water.
Whenever we drove through a new pueblo the entire town celebrated.
Just one of a number of ATVs used during the adventure in Bolivia.
Beautiful wildlife was found around nearly every turn in Bolivia.
The life of an ATV photographer may not be glamorous, but it does have its perks...
Giving the townsfolk a show in front of one of the Jesuit missions we visited.
The people in the background were stunned by this massive air!
Had to get a closer look at this one.
The Jesuit missions of Chiquitania were settled starting in the late 17th century. In the 1972s renovation work began and now six of the missions are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
We rode over 100 miles a day and covered over 1000 miles during the trip.
Some luxuries remained at our disposal, including cold beer.
Gotta make sure you have plenty of reserves when exploring the backwoods of Bolivia.
Taking some time to kick up dirt two-up.
Even though all manner of trouble befell Calabro on his adventure, the trip was well worth the effort.
Calabro got held up by this eight-year old kid, so he gave him his lunch and was allowed to pass.
The caravan medic decided to mainline a foreign substance into Calabro's vein after he spent the day bowled over by a mystery disease.
A Cessna 210 got Calabro safely back to Santa Cruz.
View from the plane.
After nine days of riding, Chavo and his fiance took Calabro to the dunes for some well earned recreation.
The sand was super light and soft and every turn whipped sand into the sky.
The sand dunes were right on the edge of the Amazon jungle.
An absolutely perfect end to the Bolivian adventure.
