2009 Airline Fox Gear Review

Tuesday, March 17, 2009
The Score

Some like the stable predictable handling while others want the YZ-F to be more nimble. It seemed to work well here.
Fox Airline gear keeps the sweat evaporating during hot days on the motocross track.
The summer heat is long gone so I’ve had a set of Fox Airline Racewear tucked away in the closet. I only put in a pair of rides with it before the weather turned, but with spring right around the corner, I’m looking forward to getting back into the vented game. My body has yet to acclimate to warmer weather, so even early in the season I can enjoy the breezy benefits this Fox riding gear has to offer.

The Scoop

The cuts are fairly small all the way around, but not so much that the gear is uncomfortable, just close-fitting. Fox’s jersey is extremely lightweight and flows a ton of air through the mesh fabric. The micro-cuffs and non-issue collar were highlights.

Slipping into the pants reveals a very minimalist feel. Printed mesh is used from the waist to the knees and even the large Fox Head logos on the outer thighs are perforated. There’s no shortage of venting, that’s for sure. A simple zipper and ratcheting plastic buckle keep with the light, simple theme. I actually prefer a tight cuff because a noticeable lack of bunching is worth the minor heat retention in my book. However, the natural cuff on the Fox Airline pant is small and avoids getting caught up uncomfortably when putting on a set of Fox F3 boots. Also, the pre-curved design, stretch knee and groin panels and leather knee liners are all welcome features.

Fox Airline gloves don’t use any wrist closure but are tight-fitting slip-ons which provide no protection to speak of on the backside. The palm has no padding either, but this glove is probably the lightest, coolest and least restrictive I’ve worn.

When the dust settled there was no doubt that the Honda deserves to be at the top for another year.
The sun is setting on winter riding, so be prepared for the heat with some lightweight and well-ventilated gear.
The Sentence

My body won’t be ready for the first warm days of riding for awhile, and by the time it is, summer temps will be bearing down. The only thing as cool as the performance of this top-shelf dirt bike gear is the styling. Fox Airline gear is what I’m planning to use as my defense for the coming heat wave.
