When you’re gallivanting around the globe more often than not you’re going to have to bring a lot of stuff. Fortunately Ogio manufactures travel and sport luggage for almost any sort of trip you can dream up--long or short. Before we set off on our tour of the Earth we grabbed the Ogio 9800 MX Gear Bag.

Big enough to carry a small child, the bag is coined after its 9800 cubic inch capacity. Measuring roughly the size of, well… a really big sized Ogio bag, the 9800 features the company’s Structural Load Equalizing Deck (SLED) system, which is like a 3-foot plastic sled. It’s tough enough to handle heavy loads such as a 15-pound pair of motorcycle leathers plus another 10-15 lbs in helmets, boots, clothes, duty-free beer, etc.

The pocket system is so cleverly designed you’ll be glad you weren’t the engineer who slaved in front of the computer screen to design it. The U-shaped main storage area holds the largest items with several secondary pockets to further organize your stuff. Once packed an excellent strapping system can cinch down on either side of the bag to minimize the loaded dimensions.

The rest of the bag is constructed out of a thick nylon-type material that keeps the stuff inside safe and dry. Another plus is the material resists getting wet, yet still breathes so the gear you packed inside won’t smell musky when you reach your destination.

Ogio's 9800 bag. Large enough to carry a full set of motocross or roadracing gear.

Maneuvering the bag, whether loaded or not, is simple due to its two oversized wheels and sturdy retractable aluminum handle. Grab handles are placed right where you need them and make lifting up the bag about as easy as it can be.

Perhaps the best thing about the 9800 bag is how light it is. Since it only weights 14 lbs empty, you’ve got 36 lbs of payload capacity before having to be subjected to oversize bag fee that a majority of U.S. airlines employ.

In fact, on multiple occasions we’ve loaded it to the point that the zippers looked like they might explode, yet the bag stays together and weighs in right at 50 lbs, so we’re never stuck paying any additional fees. So if you fly a lot, Ogio’s bag will save you money… It’s that simple. If you’re in need of an easy, affordable ($199 MSRP) and stylish way to haul all of your stuff, look no further than Ogio’s 9800 bag.

This bag holds everything plus more. Has nice padded compartment for the helmet and lots of individual zippers for other stuff like gloves, goggles, socks, shirts, etc.... Very durable and easy to get around with the extra straps every where you can through it around pretty easily. Well worth the money in my opinion....

This bag is the best gear-bag I have ever owned and it doubles as excellent luggage for traveling as well. I have to say though, I have surpassed that 50 lb mark once.
