Looking for a cold weather glove? Joe Rocket has you covered.
As the temperatures continue to drop across the country, it's time to break out the cold-weather riding gear. Riding in the cold weather sucks. Riding in the cold weather with crappy gloves sucks even more.

After checking around for insulated gloves, we found a name-brand pair at a very reasonable price, the $69 Radiant from Joe Rocket.

After a month of commuting aboard the Ballabio in the 34-40-degree mornings of autumn, I am here to tell you these gloves are the shiznit, baby! Not only are they primarily constructed of protective, abrasion-resistant leather, but they have a host of important features that the average Joe may not even realize he or she needs.

A 1.0mm cowhide exterior offers decent skid protection, and a strategically placed gel-pad insert on the palm should help absorb some impact should you go down on the cold asphalt between home and your destination. The knuckle

area features a high-density rubber padding for basic impact protection.

Helping keep the cold out is an 80-gram Thinsulate lining, and the gauntlet has a bungee-cord adjuster at the cuff to further seal out the elements. Rain shouldn't intimidate Radiant users, either.

The Radiant features a DryTech lining to keep water out while allowing interior water vapor to escape, similar to Gore-Tex, and it proved to be smooth and comfy against the skin. One of the gloves' neatest features is the faceshield wipers on the back of each thumb, an invaluable tool for riders faced with foggy conditions or stuck riding in light precipitation.

For such a moderately priced pair of gloves, the Radiants are a lot more comfortable than we expected. Sure, they are bulkier than a pair of JR's GPX gloves, but that's what it takes to keep digits warm and toasty. Despite their bulk the

If you intend to do some winter riding and you haven't found a good alternative to your ungainly faded pink-and-purple ski gloves, then look no further than the Joe Rocket Radiant. They offer a nice fit, a cool look, and keep your hands warm even when temperatures are hovering around the freezing mark. Best of all, the plethora of features is extra impressive considering the sub-$70 price tag.
