Honda Fury Project Bike
Motorcycle USA is giving away the custom 2011 Honda Fury above to one lucky winner. All you have to do is vote for the 'People's Choice' award during the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show held at all 11 stops of the IMS tour and you're entered to win. The winner will be announced at the final Daytona Beach IMS during Bike Week.
The first International Motorcycle Show (IMS) kicks off this weekend in California’s Bay Area at the San Mateo County Event Center, which also means it’s time again for the first Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show of the season. The caliber of competition entered in last year’s shows was world class, from LA Speed Shop’s Modified Harley class-winning 1947 FL with its 74 cubic-inch Knucklehead to RCC Sportbike’s Performance Category winner, a twin-turbo Suzuki B-King. Big money is up for grabs in four categories and winners are automatically entered into the 2011 AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building at Sturgis, which only sweetens the pot. The Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show will be held at the first 11 stops of the IMS, with a “battle royale” against the winners from those 11 shows slated to duke it out for twice the prize money at the final IMS stop in Daytona Beach during Bike Week.

That said, Motorcycle USA is pleased to announce it is one of the primary sponsors of this year’s Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show. Better yet, as a sponsor of the show, we’re giving away a customized 2011 Honda Fury to one lucky person. Here’s how it works. Everybody who checks out the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show and votes for the “People’s Choice” award is automatically entered to win a custom Honda Fury. We’ve got this thing lathered in old-school gold metal flake provided by the talented crew over at Cutting Edge Illusions. A bigger bark is provided by a set of Cobra Speedster Swept Pipes assisted by better air flow courtesy of a Cobra PowrFlo Air Intake System. It also has custom fenders from Low and Mean to go along with a few other sweet custom touches. Be sure to check it out as it travels around with the IMS tour and vote in the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show so you’ll have a chance at owning this beauty. The winner will be randomly selected at the conclusion of the tour. In the meantime, Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show coverage and results will be posted after every show here at Motorcycle USA.

The bike show has four classes – Free Style, Hot Bike’s Modfied Harley, Super Streetbike’s Performance Custom and the Retro Mod category. Usually the custom bike

builders are hanging out near their bikes and are happy to talk shop, sign autographs, and take pictures with fans. We know our friends over at AFT Customs will be at the San Mateo IMS with their AMD World Championship winning motorcycle called Sentoh and there’s no telling what other world class custom bike builders will be paying a visit to the show.

"There were a lot of things about the show that I thought were great. The level of quality in the motorcycles, the show's displays, awards, and venue, along with the integration with new product manufacturers, made for a really impressive show,” said Christian Dotson of Dotson Design about last year’s Ultimate Builder contest.

Here’s the full rundown on the competition courtesy of the IMS website.

Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show (UBCBS)
Enter your custom bike into the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show and pitch it against the best builders in the country. The UBCBS is an affiliate competition to the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building. Professional and amateur custom builders of choppers, cruisers and sportbikes are invited to enter their bikes into the competition and judge each other’s work. There will be 11 individual rounds of the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show nationwide.

The United States Championship will also include an individual photo shoot by a professional photographer of each bike entered into the competition. Each builder/bike owner will receive a CD of photos taken during the event of themselves and their bikes.

Judged Custom Bike Classes
Free Style:
Any motorcycle frame configuration or drivetrain combination. Your imagination is the only restriction. Must run and stop.
Hot Bike Modified Harley: Must have Harley manufactured frame and engine cases. Frame must maintain stock configuration so modifications are limited to smoothing ie; molding welds and joints, welding in filler panels or cutting excess tabs. Swingarm kits and fat tire conversions are acceptable .
Super Streetbike Performance Custom: Race inspired styling with performance enhancing engine modifications. Any motorcycle frame configuration and drivetrain combination. Judging will be focused around drag racing ie; strtched out ‘Busa, Bonneville racers and highly modified sportbikes.
Retro Mod: Any modified bike, with any drivetrain on any chassis configuration that is 25 years or older. Great class for older Harley's where the frame was cut to rake or stretch as well as a class for café racers from the Ton-Up era.

The Mob Rules
The masses can’t be kept silent and a fourth award will be given at each round of the UBCBS and the United States Championship, chosen by the mob. This is essentially a “people’s choice” award, and the people can be fickle. The winner of the Mob Rules trophy could be a bike built in a state-of-the-art machine shop, or a two car garage at the end of a cul-de-sac. It’s all up to them.

Awards and Prizes
The winners of the three judged classes at each Progressive International Motorcycle Show will receive a cash prize, a prize from Harley-Davidson, Star or Yamaha, a first place trophy and entry into the 2011 AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building at Sturgis.
