Pat Simmmons Bike Week Jam at Uhl Studio

Friday, March 9, 2012
Got a secret for you. Wanna see Doobie Brother Pat Simmons doing an acoustic set during Daytona Bike Week 2012? Then listen up.

Pat will be at artist’s David Uhl’s booth at Destination Daytona on Tuesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. where he’ll be with his lovely wife, Cris Sommer-Simmons, who is promoting her new book, “The American Motorcycle Girl’s Cannonball Diary.” Cris is also the subject of one of Uhl’s latest creations called “Leading Ladies,” and Cris, Pat and Uhl will be signing limited-edition giclee prints which will be for sale at the booth. After that, Pat’s gonna pick up a guitar and play a few tunes.

Doobie Brother Pat Simmons will be jammin' on guitar during Bike Week at David Uhl's Destination Daytona booth on Tuesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. He will be there along with his wife, accomplished author and women's riding advocate Cris Sommer-Simmons and artist David Uhl signing giclee prints of Uhl's painting of Cris called 'Leading Ladies.' Cris will also be signing copies of her latest book, 'The American Motorcycle Girl's Cannonball Diary," which served as inspiration for Uhl's painting seen below.

Cris wrote her book after participating in last year’s Cannonball Run, a coast-to-coast endurance run in which she rode a 1915 Three-speed Harley affectionately called “Effie.” With Pat, Laura Klock and Athena Ransom as her pit crew, I’m sure Cris has some wonderful stories to share about her adventure.

David Uhl, the prolific artist who’s the only painter around officially licensed by Harley-Davidson, has a full lineup of events at his two venues, the Uhl Gallery located at Destination Daytona and his Uhl Works Patio on Beach Street. Uhl has taken the lead in celebrating women and motorcycling at this year’s Bike Week. Besides the wonderful piece he created featuring Cris, another recent work called “Woman of Harley” features the indomitable Motor Maid known as Gloria Struck. In fact, over the course of the week, Gloria will be at Uhl’s booth several times as will other leading women in the industry like Laura Klock and Jodi Perewitz. So if you plan on attending Bike Week this year, be sure to stop by one of Uhl’s booths to check out his wonderful paintings and to meet some of these inspirational women of motorcycling.
