See See Motorcycles Hosts 21 Helmets Dec. 1
Monday, November 26, 2012
See See Motorcycles is once again organizing and hosting the 21 Helmets event whereby 21 artisans and craftsman, many of them custom motorcycle builders, are encouraged to put their talents to use on the side of a motorcycle helmet.
The premise is simple. Give 21 artisans free reign to create whatever they want on a motorcycle helmet. That’s it. The rest is left up to the individual using a helmet as their canvas. The results are usually as diverse and eclectic as the artists themselves.
The second See See Motorcycles
21 Helmets exhibit will make its public debut Saturday, December 1, at 5 p.m. The event is hosted by See See Motorcycles’ Thor Drake and George Kassapakis with the support of Biltwell Inc., Icon, Bell Helmets, and Pabst Blue Ribbon. See See says “plenty of beverages” will be served, so expect the PBR to be flowin’. Last year artists used mediums ranging from leather to metal and there’s such a diverse crowd of people using motorcycle helmets as their palette for this year's show, there’s no telling what you’re going to see adorning the side of a motorcycle lid.
The second annual 21 Helmets show will take place at the See See Motorcycles shop in Portland, Oregon, 1642 NE Sandy Blvd. Everyone’s invited, so if you’re in the Portland area this weekend, be sure to stop by See Sees to check out the 21 Helmets display and enjoy a PBR or two.
Here’s a quote courtesy about the show courtesy of See See Motorcycles followed by a list of artists and bike builders who have customized a helmet for the occasion.
Customizing machines and equipment was, for lack of a better term, “Par for the course.” In the pursuit of faster machines and faster racers, features were added to every aspect of racing to aid in comfort and safety. One common thread was the personalities of those racers displayed in original artwork matching man and machine. Come December 1st to see 21 helmets by 21 artists.
