Die Hard: Bruce Willis Motorcycles in Auction
Thursday, December 13, 2012
Bruce Willis is putting up five of his motorcycles up for auction with funds raised benefitting the Boot Campaign, an organization that helps veterans struggling to make the transition to civilian life. The first motorcycle up for bid on charitybuzz.com is this 2005 Ducati Multistrada 1000DS.
Actor Bruce Willis, who immortalized the unedited version of the phrase in his role as NY detective John McClane, has turned philanthropist. Willis has put five motorcycles from his personal collection up for auction to help raise money for the Boot Campaign
, a charity that seeks to assist veterans making the transition to civilian life. This military assistance program could include anything from “job placement assistance to shelter, family services, counseling, children’s needs, surviving spouse assistance, etc.”
The first motorcycle from Willis’ collection up on the auction block is a 2005 Ducati Multistrada 1000DS with a mere 285 miles on the odometer. The auction is being held on charitybuzz.com
and the highest current bid is $4500. Buyers are responsible for their own shipping and handling. There’s seven days left to bid on the Multistrada 1000DS before a new motorcycle from his collection will be put up for auction. Reportedly, a new bike will be auctioned off every two months with bidding lasting for 30 days.
“I wanted to use my bikes in a way that would benefit our military service members, and I am thankful to have found the Boot Campaign as the catalyst for using my bikes in a way that will give back to our country’s true heroes. These bikes have been a lot of fun to ride, and my hope is they can do a lot of good for our veteran,” wrote Willis on charitybuzz.
In addition to the Multistrada, Willis is donating a pair of Yamaha dirt bikes, an XT 350 and a TW200 Trailway, in addition to a 1972 Harley-Davidson Sportster Ironhead XLH and a 1962 Cushman Eagle.
